ME!!!
If you want the slightly less irreverent version, you can find a web-safe version of my CV here in PDF and HTML formats.
My name is Tim Sullivan. I am a native-born Earthling, born after my home planet had orbited its parent star about 1,949 times since a guy with the initials "J.C." was nailed to a piece of wood for saying how it would be kind of cool if everyone would be nice to everyone else for a change.
I'm studying for a PhD in Mathematics at the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom. This is the main (in fact, only) reason for this site's existence, since I first established it to take care of the notes and stuff over on the mathematics page. My research interests lie mainly in the applied mathematics/mathematical physics arena, although (bizarrely) I consider myself a bit of a purist with an affection for measure theory. A copy of my first year work Deterministic Dynamics in a Random Potential is available on request.
After graduating from Warwick with a Master of Mathematics degree in June 2004, I left the UK to travel the world for a year. You can see a few of the many photos taken on that trip on the pictures page.
My main interests outside of mathematics are the Japanese martial arts of Aikidô and Iaidô. You can find out a little more about these arts either by clicking on the Wikipedia links above or taking a look at my own Aikidô and Iaidô page. In recent months, I've also taken a more active interest in web design and film-making, following on from my involvement in the film G103.
I take some small interest in web design and believe that the only proper use for the dreaded <blink> tag is
“Schrödinger’s cat is dead.”
I have Erdös number 5 (or will very soon):
- Me → Florian Theil → Sergio Conti → Bernd Kirchheim → David Preiss → Paul Erdös;
- Me —(G103)→ Patrick Niknejad —(Harry Potter)→ Daniel Radcliffe —(The Tailor of Panama)→ David Hayman —(Where the Truth Lies)→ Kevin Bacon.
